Sanders, Cline was started by Edgar Charles Sanders in 1899.
Mr. Sanders was a General Practitioner who practiced mostly in the
solicitor's area with an emphasis on Real Estate and Estates. He
eventually took a partner, Andrew Ingram, and both practiced in the building still occupied by the firm. Mr. Sanders had four children, three of whom practiced with their father. The eldest was Edra Sanders Ferguson who later became a Judges as did her son. Richard Abbot Sanders, a former mayor of St. Thomas, and Edgar Frank Stanley Sanders, continued the firm following their father's death in 1957. At that time the firm diversified and added Litigation, labour and Corporation Law to the areas of expertise. The firm prospered through the 1950's with numerous Barristers and Solicitors as employees who stayed for varying lengths of time.

Eventually, Richard left the firm and in 1964 Frank became the sole partner. Robert Cline joined as an employed solicitor in 1965. In 1966 a partnership was formed by Frank and Larry Smith and the firm was known as Sanders, Smith, and Cline. George Philips was appointed a Judge in 1969 and left the firm. Larry Smith departed in 1979 and Robert Cline and Frank Sanders formed a partnership. The firm was continued to be known as Sanders, Cline. John Sanders was employed in 1983 and joined the firm in 1985.

At present the firm is composed of Robert Cline, John Sanders, Katherine Orkin and Bevan Earhart.
